This year ServiceHub began year ten of a relationship supporting the American Cancer Society (ACS). Our internet based application provides automated coordination of a vast pool of local volunteers who stand ready to work with cancer patients. Planning to attend a workshop in your community so you can Look Good and Feel Better while undergoing treatment for cancer? Volunteer instructors and session coordinators may be using ServiceHub to manage registrations and attendance. Have you recently been diagnosed with breast cancer? ACS has a program called Reach to Recovery that matches you to a volunteer that survived similar circumstances with whom you can discuss your questions and concerns. For nearly a decade ServiceHub has demonstrated how it can help ACS more efficiently and effectively service more patients who need assistance.

Hello, Val — the Road to Recovery pilot is currently underway in three divisions (Midwest, Great Lakes and South Atlantic). As these pilots near their completion, the project managers at the national organization are formulating plans for next steps. Other pilot projects are underway with the Reach to Recovery program and the Look Good…Feel Better program.
I am a fairly new Road to Recovery driver for the American Cancer Society. I would like to give you some feedback about ServiceHub, if I may.
1 – I find it very well organized and easy to use.
2 – I find it reliably “up” and functioning.
3 – I have a couple of suggestions/comments/questions :
* – The Round Trip mileage listed for the rides are not necessarily accurate. The distance for the lady I have signed up to drive 5 times in two weeks was listed as “15 miles”, but it was actually nearly 40! That’s a big difference to someone buying the gas. Is that mileage calculated from the driver’s home, patient, tx cntr, patient, driver, or just from patient, tx, patient home?
* – My supervisor tells me that the comments we type into the text box when a ride is complete are not actually read by anyone, either in the ACS or SH. That confuses me; why have a comment box if it’s not going to be read?

Regarding your item 3:
* Round Trip mileage — ServiceHub does an initial quick and dirty calculation of mileage (as the crow flies, from your departure point to the pickup point and then to the drop off point) for every eligible driver to help sort drivers by closest to farthest away. With so many calculations to make for each and every trip option, this seemed the most expedient. Please know, however, that you can always click on the details of any ride and generate a Google map with driving directions and near exact driving mileage.
* Comments — ServiceHub does not read the comments; they are for use by ACS.
I’m a Road to Recovery Driver & I have tried to send 2 messages via the contact spot on the website. I couldn’t get either message to go through.
I am asking why I never get any requests for rides in Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville , or Westfield. [Indiana]
The requests I receive are for rides from 465 south. I live in Carmel.
By the way, it’s very difficult for a Volunteer to contact anyone via phone or email.
I think it’s time to send a message to all explaining who to contact & how.
